Somos Eliška y Vicente, una pareja joven que comparte la pasión por explorar. Una mezcla de alma checa y latina que crean recuerdos juntas.
Nuestro blog es un espacio donde compartimos nuestras experiencias de viaje, tips, recomendaciones, y donde siempre podremos volver a revivir esos recuerdos. Creemos que viajar no se trata sólo de visitar nuevos lugares, sino también de descubrir culturas diferentes, probar nuevas comidas y conocer gente nueva.
Nuestra historia
Vamos a volver a 2018, cuando yo (Eliška) di los primeros pasos para llegar a dónde estamos hoy. En ese tiempo estudiaba Turismo en una universidad de la República Checa y aproveché el programa Erasmus en Alemania. Mientras estudiaba un semestre en Baviera, ocupaba mi tiempo libre con cursos de voleibol donde conocí a un chico de Venezuela.
Un año después, en septiembre de 2019, me apunté a unas prácticas Erasmus en Tenerife. El poder de las redes sociales hizo su magia, ese chico vio algunas fotos que publiqué y me conectó con Vicente, su amigo que vivía en Tenerife, para ayudarme a conocer mejor a la isla.
Salíamos y viajábamos mucho. Pasé 3 meses increíbles allí. En diciembre, incluso celebramos nuestro cumpleaños juntos, ya que descubrimos que solo tiene un día (y un año) de diferencia. Después de mi pasantía regresé a casa (cerca de Navidad), pero seguimos enviando mensajes de texto a distancia.
En enero de 2020, Vicente dejó Tenerife para jugar al béisbol en Alemania. Probablemente tendría sentido mencionar primero que es un jugador de béisbol profesional. Pasamos la mayor parte de nuestro tiempo libre llamándonos y también lo ayudé a aprender alemán mediante videollamadas.
En febrero, tomó un autobús a Praga sólo para verme y acompañarme en el concierto de Maluma. El interés por la misma música, danza, idiomas y viajes ayudó a nuestra conexión.
Esa primavera, llegó el Covid y se cerraron las fronteras. Eso significó para nosotros muchas videollamadas, hablar de todo, compartir nuestras luchas y alegrías diarias, ayudarnos con los idiomas, incluso cocinar juntos a distancia y quedarnos dormidos hablando por teléfono.
Cuando finalmente se abrieron las fronteras en junio, me tomé dos semanas de permiso y me fui inmediatamente a Alemania. Allí nos dimos cuenta de que es más que una amistad y decidimos intentarlo juntos.
Desde entonces, vivimos en Alemania durante los 4 años siguientes, donde ambos trabajábamos también a tiempo completo. Los 2 primeros años vivimos en Dortmund, y más tarde nos mudamos a Wiesbaden, así que hemos explorado gran parte del país (y otros países vecinos) durante nuestro tiempo libre y las vacaciones.
El año 2024 estuvo lleno de cambios. Dejamos Europa, nos comprometimos y actualmente estamos viajando por Australia. Puedes leer más sobre esta gran mudanza en uno de nuestros artículos.
Para nosotros, viajar es la forma en que nació nuestra relación. Nos ayuda a volver a ser nosotros mismos, a hacer lo que nos gusta, a disfrutar de la vida y de nosotros mismos y a salir de la rutina diaria. Es nuestra especie de «zona de confort». Nos hace sentir libres, pero libres juntos, si es que eso tiene sentido. Desconectar, estar aquí y ahora, conectar con el otro a otro nivel, conocernos aún más profundamente y en cada situación, aunque no siempre sea fácil y según lo previsto. Pero juntos formamos el mejor equipo.
Our Story
Let's go back to 2018, where I (Eli) took the first steps to get to where we are today. In that time, I was studying Tourism at a university in Czech Republic and took advantage of Erasmus programme in Germany. While studying one semester in Bavaria, I filled my free time with volleyball courses where I met a guy from Venezuela.
One year later, in September 2019, I signed up for an Erasmus Internship in Tenerife. The power of social media worked its magic, he saw some pictures I posted and connected me with Vicente, his friend who lived in Tenerife, to help me get to know the island better.
We were hanging out and traveling a lot. I spent amazing 3 months there. In December, we even celebrated our birthday together, as we found out it is only one day (and one year) apart. After my internship I returned home (around Christmas time), but we kept texting on distance.
In January 2020, Vicente left Tenerife to play baseball in Germany. It would probably make sense to mention he is a professional baseball player first. We spent most of our free time calling each other and I also helped him learning German by video calls.
In February, he took a bus to Prague just to see me and join me for Maluma's concert. The interest in the same music, dance, languages and travel just helped our connection.
That spring, Covid hit and the borders closed. That meant a lot of video calls for us, talking about everything, sharing our daily struggles and joy, helping each other learn languages, even cooking together on distance, and falling asleep on the phone.
When the borders finally opened in June, I took two weeks off work and went to Germany right away. There, we realised it is more than a friendship and decided to give it a try together..
Since then, we lived in Germany for the next 4 years, where we both worked full time, too. The first 2 years, we lived in Dortmund, and later moved to Wiesbaden, so we have explored a big part of the country (and other neighbouring countries) during our free time and holidays.
2024 was full of changes. We left Europe, got engaged and are currently travelling through Australia! You can read more about this big move in a separate article.
For us, travel is how our relationship was born. It helps us come back to being us, do what we love, enjoy life and ourselves and step out of the daily routine. It is our kind of "comfort zone". It makes us feel free, but free together, if that even makes sense. To switch off, be here and now, connect with each other on another level, get to know each other even deeper and in every situation, even if it is not always easy and according to the plan. But together, we make the best team.
